First Lady's Digital Currency Creators Hit with Market Manipulation Fraud Legal Action

The architects behind a virtual coin introduced by First Lady of the United States Melania Trump have been alleged in legal documents of executing a pump-and-dump scheme.

Coin Release and Price Surge

The $MELANIA tokens were made available for just a few cents each on the 19th of January, just prior to former President Trump was inaugurated.

Alongside the $MELANIA coin, the former president released his personal token shortly prior to the presidential inauguration.

In a matter of hours, the value of the $MELANIA cryptocurrency surged to $13.73 per unit.

Sudden Collapse in Price

However, the price plummeted almost as quickly, and is now less than 15 cents – under 1% of its peak price.

In parallel, the $TRUMP token hit a high of nearly forty-six dollars and now trades for under six dollars.

Court Claims and Investors' Arguments

The plaintiffs assert that the token's architects planned the scheme aware that the token's worth would decline sharply.

Melania Trump herself is not mentioned in the court case. Investors stated they do not believe she was responsible, but accused the digital currency firms of using her and other familiar faces as window dressing for their criminal operations.

Exchange Platform Involvement

As per fresh legal documents, claimants charge executives of the Meteora digital asset exchange, where $MELANIA was initially traded, of setting up a operation that permitted them to indirectly purchase large quantities of the cryptocurrency.

Their partners then promptly liquidated these digital currencies, pocketing substantial profits while triggering the price to plummet, according to documents filed in New York federal court.

Wider Proceedings

The claims regarding the Melania token have been incorporated into legal proceedings concerning several other cryptocurrencies, which began in April.

The Trump organization has according to reports secured in excess of one billion dollars in pre-tax profits from multiple digital currency-linked products and companies over the past 12 months.
