The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of

We already knew that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole destination where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in Fortnite. However, whether players will actually want to use it is another question, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield car everyone is eager to drive, and this isn't it.

What Fans Really Want

Although most gamers would undoubtedly love to face off behind the wheel of Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical automobile Homer designed himself in the 1991 episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—regrettably, that isn't what players are receiving. Not even receiving the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in season 10. Instead, fans will obtain the family's standard beat-up four-door, which they've been driving since 1989. Though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an iconic symbol of the show. For those who analyze Rocket League car hitboxes, the Simpson family car uses the same hitbox as the Dominus.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

But that's not the sole cosmetic from the show coming to Rocket League. This limited-time event will also include a set of objectives to unlock more goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a press release, the challenges will task participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and travel a specific distance worthy of acquiring the ideal pastries!"

While the full lineup of challenge rewards isn't yet revealed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it seems players will also receive wheels with a television showing the show's title sequence, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

The Rocket League collaboration lines up with the extensive Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which includes a completely new map of Springfield, as well as a month-long seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and concludes on November 17th.
