Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Jr has expressed regret to fans for his reaction when taken off in Sunday's heated El Clasico win.
He was replaced in the 72nd minute and showed his frustration by heading directly off the pitch.
The Brazilian later returned to the bench and, after his club's 2-1 win, sought to engage Barça's youngster Yamal during contentious final whistle exchanges.
"Today I want to express regret to all the supporters for my response when I was taken off in the big match," he wrote on X.
"Similarly to I have previously expressed during today's training, I would like to express regret anew to my teammates, the team, and the club president.
"Occasionally emotion takes over me because I continuously aim to win and support my club. My winning mentality originates in the affection I hold for this institution and everything it stands for."
The player moved to the Spanish capital from his former club in recent years for millions and has notched 111 goals in more than 300 games.
But his future in the La Liga is unclear with reports in recent months suggesting that Real would think about allowing the young star leave if they were to receive a suitable offer.
When the winger was substituted on that day, broadcast footage from coverage provider the service recorded him saying: "Always me! I'm departing the side! It's preferable if I depart, I'm going."
